Help / FAQ
Why was CherryGO born?
We believe in making life a little better and safer every day. We believe that high-tech solutions can help us come this true. This is why in 2018 we created CHERRISK: a fast, simple and modern insurance technological platform. We help members of the CHERRISK community in a fun way to live a safer life.
We thought it was time that everyone, not just CHERRISK members were given a little motivation day by day. So we created CherryGO, the application that rewards people with cherries for living a safer and more active life. The system was designed to go beyond this: the cherries users collect can be used within the application to purchase products, services and discounts (a.k.a. goodies) provided by our partners, thus we can reach an even wider public, so we can help even more people.
As we see it there are more and more people who are open to this, however many of them need a little extra motivation. We think this can be solved with CherryGO because even seemingly hard things can be made easier with adding a little fun.
How can I collect cherries?
Following the required authorisations, CherryGO will automatically recognize your activities: mobile free driving, cycling, walking and running.
Activities are identified by the application with the help of the GPS and other sensors of your phone. CherryGO monitors the length of your activity, then rewards you with virtual cherries accordingly. The more time you spend moving, the more cherries you will receive.
While you are driving, CherryGO will identify the fact that you are driving, but at the same time it also monitors you if you are using your phone. Why? Because cherries are only awarded for mobile free driving. (Running car navigation apps do not count as use, but setting the software and otherwise using the software do.)
CherryGO will credit one cherry for every five minutes of mobile free driving, cycling, walking and running into your account. Then you can use your cherries to get all kinds of goodies (i.e. products, services and discounts).
How does CherryGO count the 5-minute units?
When counting the required 5 minutes, CherryGO takes into consideration every unit of time spent with mobile free driving, cycling, walking and running if it exceeds 1 minute. So you do not have to spend 5 consecutive minutes walking, the minutes spent with it add up. If you want to know how many more minutes you need to get the cherry, just go to the main screen and on the “progress” diagram around the activity icon you can monitor your minutes. Minutes spent with each separate activity will be counted separately, the different activities do not add up.
How does CherryGO identify my activities?
CherryGO uses the data from the GPS and other phone sensors (gyroscope, accelerometer) to identify activities. Then the data are transferred into a database where different algorithms are used to analyse them.
First, it identifies if you are standing or moving. If you move at a pace less than 10 kph, your activities are counted as walking or running.
If you exceed the 10 kph speed, we presume that either you are sitting in a car or you are cycling. In order to decide whether you are driving or cycling, the GPS information is linked to other data (like the movements of your phone) and this is further analysed. This is why it is important to keep your phone on or near your body. This way it is easier to sense your movement, and your activity will be identified as cycling with more certainty.
If you are driving, we presume that your phone stays stable since you are not using it. This helps us to identify this activity.
CherryGO failed to identify my activity correctly.
We are constantly working on ensuring that the algorithms used are more and more reliable in identifying your activity. The more people use the application, the more accurate it will be. But rest assured, your activity will not be left without a reward.
I did not get any cherries.
When we receive incorrect GPS data which are unintelligible (e.g. because of incorrect position data), we need to filter them out of the system which may unfortunately lead to the loss of cherries.

What are goodies?
Goodies are perhaps the most important part of CherryGO since they are the products, services and discounts we and our partners offer in exchange for your virtual cherries.
How much does CherryGO use the battery of my phone?
Activity identification is automatic, it is done in the background, however, the the continuous use of the GPS will definitely show in your battery life. CherryGO tries to use the least of your battery and makes use of the built-in optimizations of phones. Most of our developments are focued on optimizing battery usage even further.
I have an Android phone and battery usage is high.
CherryGO uses a GPS connection in the background for positioning. This is required to identify the activities you are doing. Our experience is that by using CherryGO a standard phone uses 8% more energy. We are constantly working on reducing battery usage so we ask you to keep your CherryGO application always up-to-date.
Despite authorising GPS access, my Android phone cannot identify my activities.
Sometimes phones show that there is a GPS connection, while in effect this is not the case. Restarting your phone solves the problem most of the times.
